From my school days, I had always dreamt of owning fleet of expensive bikes and luxurious cars, with this I believed to become famous and popular. My Dad is a business man and Mom is a homemaker, I was never let to live a lavish lifestyle from childhood but always had enough for living. Being a last bencher and an average student I successfully passed my High School in 2006 from “B.N.V” Barrackpore, Calcutta and Higher Secondary in 2008 from “Maheshwari Vidyalaya” Calcutta (My Home Town).
In dreaming of having a hot girlfriend, cool friends and happening life got myself admitted to one of the happening colleges “The Bhawanipur Education Society College” Calcutta. 2008 1st day in college and I was proposed by a senior 3rd year English student and in next 2 months I had made a hot bong girlfriend. During this time, I walked inside a Yamaha showroom to checkout R1 – 1000cc priced at 10.5 lacs and was dreaming of owning it one day. What excited me about superbikes were their fat tyres and exhaust sound. My love life went awesome for 5 months and she dumped me for better. So the deep-ration mode stayed for a year for which I had left my studies and college, standing as a 1st year B.Com pass out.
Dad’s business didn’t work well for me, so was trying hard to move out of Calcutta and find a living for myself. BPO companies were the life saver for me. 2010 finally cracked a job with Dell Delhi at a salary of 19k INR per month. Left home with 10k INR in hand all alone 1st time ever. 2 years and I was promoted in a sales role at Dell Bangalore, by that time I had managed to complete my graduation in 2012 and from here on my career took a great turn, currently I am Product Marketing Manager for Dell India.
Before moving to Bangalore I had visited the Auto Expo show @ Delhi in 2012. I was amazed to see all luxurious cars and bikes. Ducati a dream bike and Monster looked killer. After moving to Bangalore I had booked the Monster but due to dealership issues bike was undelivered. I was very desperate to own a superbike so started exploring options and then ended up with Harley Davidson Iron 883, in the year 2013, my 1 st ever bike. I was on top of the world, bought all the required accessories and got an amazing photo-shoot done. Had always heard of bikers group and seen over movies, so here I met with multiple groups like Harley Owners Group, Riders Republic, Bangalore Pandis, Ministry of Torque and Ducati Owners Club.
Seeing all the bikers I realized that it’s not only about getting famous but respect for roads, people, bike and being responsible in life. During this time, I had met people with different religions & cultures. Covered destinations like Coorg, Goa, Ooty, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Humpi, Chennai and Mysore. A lot of highways in South India were covered during our Sunday breakfast rides. With this I have now covered more than 20,000 KM. In 2014 I, had purchased Harley Davidson Forty-Eight after selling my Iron 883, it stayed with me for a short while after which my next ride was Ducati 899 Panigale in 2015 bought from Mumbai and Irode it down to Bangalore, covered Bangalore to Mumbai back and forth in 32 hours, this was my 1st ever sport superbike which clocked 1001 KM the 1st day.
In this year 2017, I have completed my Level 1, 2 & 3 certification from California Superbike School (CSS) at Madras Motor Race Track, it was an amazing experience. Thanks to my friend Joe who helped me during CSS, he also owns Joe Garage in Bangalore and my Cute Bubbly Gujju GF who supported me to do this CSS. To me riding a 2-wheeler is not about getting famous or to show wealth but to become a better Human and enjoy life with your beliefs. A biker never requires a crowd or a group to ride but needs road to keep rolling, people who feel the same will ride along lifelong. To the many rules, we have registered in our life’s break free and do what you feel or else people will stop defining the word GOOD and BAD or RIGHT and WRONG.
