Day 5: 23nd July’16 (Saturday)
From: Kishtwar to Pathankot
Route: Doda, Patnitop, Udampur, Lakhanpur, Pathankot
This day was supposed to be tiring as we had to travel 300 kms out of which 170 kms was on hills and also the heat & loo would take its toll as we were descending towards Jammu city. We started from the Hotel around 07:00 AM and somehow managed to have a click of ROAD Brigade in front of the hotel we stayed.
It was a pleasant morning, with the cool breeze hitting us we continued our journey towards our first Pit stop, Patnitop. The road condition was good compared to what we had been facing since the past 3 days. We were able to clock good speed and were moving at a brisk pace. Enjoying the scenic beauty of Kishtwar District we continued to move along the hills. Apart from a small break of 15 minutes we continuously drove for around 3:30 hours and finally, stopped at a shop for some refreshments. Moving ahead we crossed Doda and approached Patnitop. We were lucky to find a Bhandara on the way to Patnitop. We collectively decided to have Lunch here. Around 12:30 we stopped by for lunch at the Bhandara. They served us with Rice, Puri, Aloo ki sabzi, Black Channe, Halwa and a revitalizing Tea. The Prashad was a blessing in disguise for us as the road ahead was blocked and till the time the road got cleared we were over with our Lunch. Around 01:30 PM we made a move towards Pathankot with the destination still being 170 kms. The Road was plain and luckily the heat was bearable. We made good progress and reached Pathankot (Hotel Grand) by 05:00 PM.
Around 4-5 riders were with Vijay and reached around 05:30 PM. It was kind of a mix feeling that we all were having as it was the last day we all were staying together. Emotions were high, as we had so much to discuss, party and only 1 day left before we made our move towards Delhi. We guys were joined in by two local friends of our fellow Riders, and then the Success Party started. The talks just kept pilling on and the experience sharing began. The Drinks just seem to have no effect on people as everyone was already in the hangover of the Ride. It’s truly said that every person has his/her own kind of Handover that they love, you need not be an Alcoholic to get addicted to hangover. Hangover can always be found within something you Love. This day made me believe in this. We partied all night and for the first time in 5 days’ no one looked at the watch taking care of the time we needed to sleep. The day ended on a high, emotions had their toll on everyone and purity of brotherhood could be easily seen. Few Pictures from that night.
