Day 6: 24th July’16 (Sunday)
From: Pathankot to Delhi
Route: Phagwara, Ludhiana, Ambala, Karnal, Sonipat, Delhi
After the scintillating last night, it was quite difficult to start early in the morning. We guys had a light breakfast and were ready to leave around 08:00 AM in the morning. The distance for the day was around 480 kms but we knew we had to stop at Chandigarh Press Club for a small Conference. The Conference had been arranged by our fellow Rider for everyone who had accompanied on this Ride. The preparation there was yet a Surprise for all of us. Finally, we left the Hotel keeping Chandigarh in mind as our first Pitstop. It was quite humid as we began our Journey towards the destination. The Convoy speed was quite smooth as after 4 days we all had seen clean and plain roads. The Humidity did affect us all but we kept hydrating ourselves at regular intervals. This Route till Chandigarh was quite spotless as we all just focused on Riding and reaching on time. We did make Videos of the Convoy on the road but photography was just not a part of this day’s ride.
It had been 03.30hrs that we had travelled continuously. We took this break just 80kms before reaching Chandigarh. All of us were hungry but we knew that if we planned to reach Delhi in day light we couldn’t afford loss of time and hence, we had stopped by at a small stall of Chole Kulche. Consuming the refreshments didn’t take us more than 20mins and we all were on the go for Chandigarh. By now the sun had started to beat down and we all were feeling agitated specially with the Riding attire on. The wait was now for reaching the Press Club so that everyone could relax for a while. Finally, we did reach Chandigarh at 01:15 PM and we had a warm welcome there by Mr Bhupinder. We all were welcomed with Bouquets and showering flowers. Few Pictures from the Press Club,
We all had a discussion there with the Chairman and almost every part of our Journey was focused upon. They asked us for a brief summary about our Ride and our Experience and also took our names for publishing in the local newspaper. The hunger had again stepped in as the lavish Lunch was being organized for us. We were treated with some extravagant food and delightful deserts. With our stomach jam-packed, it was about time that we left for Delhi. Thanking each person at the Club, we were on the go for Delhi at 02:45 PM. The food and deserts had revitalized us and also a good portion of the abrupt heat time had been utilized at the Press Club. We were going at a brisk pace and had reached Neelkanth, Karnal around 04:45 PM. We stopped by at Neelkanth to have some refreshments and again started from there in about 20 mins. The best part of the whole ride was that the convoy stuck together and always moved together. We continued our way till Kundli which was about 90 kms from Karnal. We stopped at Kundli to meet our fellow Rider Prateek, who had come to welcome and congratulate us. After meeting him, we proceeded towards Delhi around 06:45 PM which was still around 60kms. It had already started to become dark and accordingly our speed had come down in order to maintain safety of everyone. Lastly, we reached Mukarba Chowk around 07:45 from where the Ride had started. Mukarba Chowk was the termination point for the Ride, and from there each one of us was supposed to leave for respective places in Delhi/NCR. Each one of us got down from the Bike and hugged each other. It was a mix of emotions for everyone as the Ride had ended and we all had to separate but on the other side it was a blissful moment as we were going to meet our families after 6 long days. Hugging and Congratulating each other we all moved to our Respective destinations.
It indeed was a remarkable ride for ROAD as it was the first outstation ride of R.O.A.D and also the sense of Achievement was mammoth. Thanks to its matured and experienced Riders, R.O.A.D justified the adventure in its name by conquering Sach Pass (Daddy of all Mountain Passes) and Killar Kishtwar (World’s Most Dangerous Road).
